Pulihora

The moment we think about traditional food, first recipe that clicks to our mind is Pulihora.This is one of the famous and most common recipe prepared during Indian festivals and is given to us in many Indian temples as prasadam.This pulihora can be prepared with tamarind, lemon, raw mangoes etc. So let's start preparing Pulihora by using tamarind.

Ingredients :


Boiled rice - 1 cup
Tamarind paste - 2 tbsp (Refer to Tamarind Paste recipe)
Sesame seeds powder - 1/4 tbsp
Coriander powder - 1/4 tbsp
Black pepper powder - 1/4 tbsp
Salt - As per needed
Turmeric - 1/4 tbsp

Temper :
Oil - 3-4 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Chana dal - 2 tbsp
Peanuts - 3 tbsp
Curry leaves - 4-5
Green chillies - 3
Dry red chillies - 2
Asafoetida - A pinch

Procedure : 


In a bowl add boiled rice and let it cool down completely. Now add 1 tbsp of oil, turmeric and mix the mixture well.Now add tamarind paste and mix it well.
Heat oil in a pan and temper it.Now add the temper mixture to the rice.Add sesame seeds powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder and stir the mixture well.Finally add salt and mix the mixture for one final time.

Very tasty and traditional Pulihora is ready to eat.

Tamarind Paste

Tamarind or Tamarind Paste  is one of the ingredient used in many recipes.The color of tamarind paste depends on the color of tamarind.This easy recipe is prepared once, stored and used many times . Let's start preparing it !!!

Ingredients :


Tamarind - 1 cup
Boiled Water - 2 cups
Salt - As per needed

Temper :
Oil - 6-7 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tbsp
Curry leaves - 4-5
Chana dal - 1 tbsp
Red chillies - 2-3
Green chillies - 2-3
Turmeric - A pinch

Procedure : 


Take tamarind and soak in boiled water for 30min in a bowl.Later squeeze the juice and keep it aside.Now heat oil in a pan and temper it.Add tamarind paste, salt and let it boil for 30min.Once the oil oozes out turn off the flame and let it cool.
We can make this paste once in a month and store in the refrigerator.We can use this paste for making tamarind rice, sambar, chutneys etc.

Very easy Tamarind Paste is ready to use.

Indo Chinese Veg Rice

Vegetable Rice can be prepared in many ways.Each one of us have a different style in preparing it.Have you ever tried making Indian Vegetable Rice by adding Chinese cuisine  main flavour???
So here comes Indo Chinese Veg Rice which is a combination of Indian and Chinese ingredients.This is the perfect dish for the people who love Indian and Chinese cuisine . Let's start preparing it !!!!

Ingredients :


Boiled Rice - 1 cup
Chopped potato - 1(medium size)
Chopped carrot - 1 (medium size)
Green chillies - 2
Chopped onion - 1 (medium size)
Chopped tomato - 1 (medium size)
Green peas - 1/4 cup
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 tbsp
Soya sause - 1 tbsp
Cloves - 2
Red Chilli powder - As per needed
Salt - As per needed
Garam masala - 1/2 tbsp
Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
Mint - 1/4 cup
Chopped Spring onions - 1/4 cup
Cumin and mustard seeds - 1/4 tbsp
Turmeric - A pinch
Oil - 4-5 tbsp

Procedure : 


Heat oil in a pan.Add cumin and mustard seeds,cloves, green chillies, turmeric, onions and  cook them for few minutes. Add ginger garlic paste and cook until the raw smell goes away.Add all the vegetables, mint and cook them until they are cooked.Now add soya sause, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala and mix it well.Now add boiled rice and stir the mixture well so that the rice is evenly mixed. Finally garnish it with coriander and spring onions leaves.

Very tasty Indo Chinese Veg Rice is ready to eat.
