Pulihora

The moment we think about traditional food, first recipe that clicks to our mind is Pulihora.This is one of the famous and most common recipe prepared during Indian festivals and is given to us in many Indian temples as prasadam.This pulihora can be prepared with tamarind, lemon, raw mangoes etc. So let's start preparing Pulihora by using tamarind.

Ingredients :


Boiled rice - 1 cup
Tamarind paste - 2 tbsp (Refer to Tamarind Paste recipe)
Sesame seeds powder - 1/4 tbsp
Coriander powder - 1/4 tbsp
Black pepper powder - 1/4 tbsp
Salt - As per needed
Turmeric - 1/4 tbsp

Temper :
Oil - 3-4 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Chana dal - 2 tbsp
Peanuts - 3 tbsp
Curry leaves - 4-5
Green chillies - 3
Dry red chillies - 2
Asafoetida - A pinch

Procedure : 


In a bowl add boiled rice and let it cool down completely. Now add 1 tbsp of oil, turmeric and mix the mixture well.Now add tamarind paste and mix it well.
Heat oil in a pan and temper it.Now add the temper mixture to the rice.Add sesame seeds powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder and stir the mixture well.Finally add salt and mix the mixture for one final time.

Very tasty and traditional Pulihora is ready to eat.
