Bisibele Bath recipe one of the most popular traditional rice-lentil-vegetable dish from the Karnataka cuisine. It is so popular that you get it so easily in the South Indian restaurants in Bangalore. You have to cook the rice, the lentil and the vegetables separately and then mix everything. well its just not mixing everything and there you go. no… there is more. the flavors and the taste makes all the difference.The main ingredient of this is Black Pepper. Grounded masala at home gives it more taste. So there is lot to know about this recipe. Lets have a look to recipe.
Ingredients :
Boiled Rice -1 1/2 cupYellow lentil to be boiled - 1 cup
Bottle gourd - 10 pieces
tomato - 1
Tamarind Paste - 2 spoons
Drumstick - 1 full
Yellow round cucumber - 5 pieces
Carrot (optional) - 1/2 cut to small pieces
Curry Leaves - 10
Coriander leaves - some
Green chillies - 3
Onion - 1
Sugar - 1/2 spoon
Ghee - 1 spoon
Grounded Masala :
Cinnamon - 1 1/2 inch stickCloves - 3
Black Pepper - 10-15
Grind all the above ingredients and keep it a side.
Temper :
Oil - 3 spoonsCumin and mustard seeds - 1 spoon
Turmeric - 1/2 spoon
Procedure :
Take oil in a Pan, Temper it and add onions, green chillies , all vegetables , tamarind paste, salt and close the lid and wait for 1 whistle. Later on add boiled Lentil,water and mix well now bring it to boil. Add rice and the grounded powder and mix well. Remember the mixture should be in loose consistency, because later on that will be coming closure .Keep the cooker without the lid on the stove top and simmer on a low flame for about 10 mins. Keep on stirring often so that theBisibele bath does not burn at the base.Later top it with Ghee.
Serve hot with chips or any fritters.
