Pongal

Pongal is a traditional South Indian dish.Pongal is the most simplest and easiest breakfast recipe. This tasty recipe can be prepared at home which takes very less time.So let's start preparing it !!!!

Ingredients :


Rice - 1 cup
Moong dal - 1/4 cup
Black Pepper - 5-6
Green chillies - 2-3
Cashews - 7-8
Cumin seeds - 1/4 spoon
Asafoetida - a pinch
Curry leaves - 2-3
Ghee - 3-4 spoons
Salt - As per needed
Water - 5 cups

Procedure : 


Dry roast the moong dal for 2-3 min and keep it aside.

Heat  ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, green chillies, black pepper, cashews and fry for 1 min.Now add rice, roasted moong dal, 5 cups of water and salt. Finally close the lid and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.

Very tasty and traditional Pongal is ready to eat. Serve it with coconut chutney.
